In May 2013, UK newspapers were filled with claims that a miracle baldness cure was on the horizon. Its name was L'Oréal Kérastase Densifique, and it is being made by the established beauty product manufacturer L'Oréal.
The “miracle cure” would come in vials of product that initially cost $300, and claims to reawaken dormant hair follicles, causing them to produce hair once again.
Now the Densifique range has expanded to include a hair masque, shampoo for men, serum, mousse, and more options.
Coming from a renowned brand, it would appear that these products must do as they say on the tin. They wouldn't stake their reputation on an ineffective product.
Currently, L'Oréal makes the following claims about what their Densifique range can do:
- Enhanced bounce & body
- Awakens dormant follicles of hair
- More texture, substance, and resilience
- Hair is more resistant
- Hair is fully densified
- Strengthens hair fiber
- Hair appears thicker
If the claims are to be believed, this does sound like a wonder product. But can we believe the claims?
Stemoxydine Review
Let us look at the key ingredient, a compound called Stemoxydine. Now, this isn't a new ingredient; it was contained in the exact same 5% potency, in a product launched in 2012 called Neogenic. Although this product launched in a flurry of similar spectacular hair regrowth claims, consumer response was poor:

Is this newer L'Oréal Kérastase Densifique product simply Neogenic repackaged and relaunched with a new name? Rumor on popular hair loss forums is that it is.
L'Oréal Kérastase Densifique Consumer Reviews
A great way of judging whether a product will work for you is to look at reviews to see if it worked for other people. I like to look at Amazon reviews first, which were mixed, with 23% giving the product 1 star at the time of writing.

“I have completed two months of daily usage and my hair is still falling and did not notice any new baby hair . on the other hand it might have increased my hair thickness just slightly” – Amazon customer review
“I'm not sure if this works. My hair feels slightly in better condition but I certainly can't see any re growth. It may come later but for the price I would have liked to see a better result.” – Amazon customer review
This doesn't mean it's a bad product. From analyzing online reviews, including those from Amazon, I came to the conclusion that while L'Oréal Kérastase Densifique may make a difference for some people suffering from hair loss, I believe there are better products for hair loss out there.
Is There a Better Option for Tackling Hair Loss?
Now, let's compare the results of L'Oréal Kérastase Densifique with those of a well-established hair loss product called Profollica.
Densifique claims an increase in hair density by 4% after three months.
